Deep Cleaning vs. Standard Cleaning: Which One Do You Need?

We get this question all the time: "Should I book a standard cleaning or a deep cleaning?" The answer depends on the current state of your home and how long it has been since your last thorough cleaning.

Standard Cleaning: Regular Maintenance

A standard cleaning is designed for homes that are already in reasonably good shape and just need regular upkeep. Think of it as maintenance mode — keeping your home fresh, tidy, and healthy between deeper sessions.

What is included: - Dusting all surfaces and furniture - Vacuuming carpets and mopping hard floors - Kitchen counters, stovetop, and sink cleaning - Bathroom sanitization (toilet, shower, sink) - Trash removal and bag replacement - Mirror and glass surface cleaning - General tidying of rooms

A standard cleaning is perfect for recurring weekly or bi-weekly service. It takes 2 to 3 hours for a typical home and starts at $120.

Deep Cleaning: The Full Reset

A deep cleaning goes beyond the surface. It tackles the buildup, grime, and hard-to-reach areas that standard cleaning does not address. It is like pressing the reset button on your entire home.

What is included (in addition to everything in a standard clean): - Inside cabinet and drawer wipe-down - Baseboard and crown molding cleaning - Light fixture and ceiling fan dusting - Appliance exterior deep clean - Window sill and track cleaning - Door frame and switch plate sanitization - Detailed grout and tile scrubbing

A deep cleaning takes 4 to 6 hours and starts at $220.

When to Choose Each

Choose a standard cleaning if: you clean regularly (yourself or with a service), your home is generally tidy, and you want to maintain that level of cleanliness.

Choose a deep cleaning if: it has been more than a month since a thorough cleaning, you are preparing for guests or an event, you are moving into or out of a home, or you want a seasonal refresh.

Our Recommendation

If you are a new client, we almost always recommend starting with a deep cleaning. This gives us a clean baseline to work from. After that, switching to regular standard cleanings keeps your home in excellent shape with minimal effort on your part.
